If your student has been injured as a result of a suicide attempt, the student should go to the nearest Emergency Room. This would include overdosing on a substance, cutting self, attempted to hang self, and attempted use of a weapon to harm self.
Make a Safety Plan for you and your child or teen:
- Call your insurance company to identify therapists on your plan
- Recognize warning signs
- Use coping strategies and skills
- List your support and reach out to them when thoughts or feelings are overwhelming
- Continually ensure your environment is safe
- Contact mental health professionals if in crisis
